Appointment of Independent Non-Executive Directors
The Council formally appointed Jobi McAnuff and Mark Esiri as Independent Non-Executive Directors of The FA, and they have taken up their positions with immediate effect.
Fan-Led Review of Football Governance
The Council was given an update on progress with the main recommendations arising from the report by Tracey Crouch MP following the Fan-Led Review of Football Governance.
Refereeing Strategy
Council Members participated in a workshop session to discuss a new Refereeing Strategy. They specifically considered what refereeing should look like in five years, how this might be achieved, and the barriers to progress. Feedback from the session and responses from a wider stakeholder consultation will help develop the new strategy.
2022 UEFA Women’s EUROs
Our Chief Operating Officer, Mark Burrrows, presented on the operational delivery of the UEFA Women’s EUROs. 16 teams will compete in 10 stadia, with 31 matches attracting over 400,0000 spectators and leading to the Final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 31 July. Sue Campbell, Director of Women’s Football, then presented on the tournament’s legacy programme with a focus on inspiring positive change by creating equal access for girls to play football, diversifying the workforce of coaches, referees and administrators, and providing an inclusive, safe and welcoming environment for girls and women to the game.
